School Lunch Menu

Lunch consists of five menu components. In schools that have implemented offer vs. serve, a child may choose to decline two of these five, but are required to take a fruit or vegetable serving. The five menu components always include: meat or meat alternate, fruits, vegetables, grains or bread, and choice of 1% milk or skim milk in flavored or unflavored. Please review the menu link above for daily lunch options.

School Breakfast Menu

Breakfast consists of four menu items. In schools that have implemented offer vs. serve, a child may choose to decline one of these four. Students must take a fruit or vegetable. Milk and cereal are offered daily as two of the available choices. Please review the menu link above for daily breakfast options.

Nutrition Analysis

A nutrient analysis is performed on each school’s menu. The weekly average for lunch provides one-third of the daily recommended allowances for calories, with 30 percent or less of calories from fat, and less than 10 percent of calories from saturated fat. Minimum servings of all vegetable subgroups, fruit, meat, and grains ensure adequate offerings of key vitamins and minerals. All nutritional information is available to view at the School Food and Nutrition Services’ central office. An appointment is required. If you are interested in viewing, please call Darlene Fox at (504)596-3434 to schedule an appointment.

Meal Modification

A Prescription for a School Meal Modification must be thoroughly completed each school year by a recognized medical professional.  Please work closely with your child’s principal and teacher if your child has a food allergy.  Cross contamination is always a risk as we do not have allergy-free kitchens for preparation.
